Wrinkle Creams that Actually Work

Ageing is a fact of life, but there’s absolutely nothing wrong with wanting your skin to age gracefully, and a little slower, if you can help it. And then there’s prevention, because whatever your age, five years from now your future self will thank you.

When you look great, you feel great, and we’re here to help you find the best skincare products to deliver that level of confidence!

With so many products on the market, it can be overwhelming to work out which products actually work, and even more difficult (and expensive) to use trial and error with 20 different serums. This is why we’ve done all the hard work for you.

When should I start using skincare that targets signs of ageing?

The sooner the better, especially when it comes to prevention. If your goal is to have skin that looks as youthful as possible, start using quality mineral sun protection daily. If you’ve started to notice any signs of ageing, begin adding one cosmeceutical product at a time to avoid any possible irritation with mixing high-strength actives.

It’s also important to remember that your skin is a living organ, so any improvements will take time and consistency, in a similar way that 20 push-ups won’t improve your body straight away!

If you do find a product that makes your skin feel better instantly, this could either be through boosted nourishment from oils (which of course, is helpful) or from silicones that make skin feel temporarily smoother (but aren’t great for the skin).

For truly younger-looking skin and a reduction in fine lines and wrinkles, you’ll want potent, proven ingredients that change and improve your skin health right down at the cellular level.

What’s the best product to reduce wrinkles?

Firstly, what is a “wrinkle cream”? We don’t really use this term here at Harmony, but many of our clients come in looking for just that. Most of these people are referring to a magic cream or serum that will target the tell-tale signs of ageing skin: fine lines, wrinkles, sun damage, sagging and a crepe-like texture on the face and neck.

While a quality moisturiser will definitely help, you’re going to need a little more than just one cream if you want the absolute best results possible.

This is because you’ll want to be taking advantage of a few different active ingredients that don’t always mix well together, so need to be applied separately and at different times. Below are some of our absolute favourite high performance serums and hydrators to target those signs of ageing, and these all pack a punch when it comes to results (and as skin therapists, we’re a tough crowd to please!):

1. Pure Age Defiance Serum by O Cosmedics

Some of our clients have referred to this serum as “botox in a bottle” for its ability to plump, tighten and hydrate the skin.

Fortified with multi-vitamins, niacinamide (Vitamin B3), Vitamin A, peptides and a bioavailable form of hyaluronic acid, this serum relaxes the skin, fights glycation, relaxes expression lines and delivers youth and radiance.

This thin serum is best applied straight after cleansing, and will absorb quickly.

2. One Truth 818 Serum

One of the most unique skincare products on the market, this serum contains Nobel-Prize-Winning science to actually reverse wrinkles and improve skin firmness.

As we age, our telomeres (the “tails” on the end of our DNA) shorten, which makes our cells age. Using our body’s natural process, the 818 molecule activates and allows our cells to release a natural enzyme (usually dormant) called telomerase, to lengthen our telomeres again, resulting in youthful cells and youthful skin. The active ingredient in this serum, Tam 818, is the strongest telomerase activator ever invented.

4. Dp Dermaceuticals Retinal Active

Give your night cream an upgrade! You’ve probably already heard that retinol, also known as Vitamin A, is a powerful (and proven) ingredient when it comes to younger looking skin.

This cream delivers retinaldehyde, a strong yet less irritating form of retinol, to accelerate skin youth by making skin thicker and more elastic. It also contains Vitamin E, peptides and a Hyaluroinic Acid complex to nourish, rejuvenate and repair the complexion. Use this as your moisturiser in the evening.

Not for beginners, this serum contains the strongest form of retinol before a prescription is needed.
